FACING THE GIANTS
Just watched part of FACING THE GIANTS, and I would have thought it was a satire of people who try to connect football with some sort of Southern Evangelical Worldview, except that I have met too many people who think Jesus was an SEC fan.

Assholes Across The Spectrum
Every so often, you discover that an individual is an amoral, self-serving bastard, who is only interested in protecting his own ass. Which is fair enough.
Maybe I am a bit of an idealist, but when when I discover that a person who answered to the title EDUCATOR was one of those bastards, I get really upset. Very upset.

WWII, Whatever.
As I have seen things talking about the outbreak of WWI (the subject of my master's essay), I wonder how many of my high school students understand what a turning-point in world history these events really are.
Even more worrisome, do they care?

Thoughts on Debra in the ICU
As I sit here in ICU, I want shake Mom.
Dammit. You are one of the most irrepressible creatures I know. Your first daughter-in-law said that you were "too mean to die" and "would out-live us all." Matt is tough as Hell because of the way you treated him. I missed a week of school at your right hand.
Wake. The. Fuck. Up.
Dad needs you. Pony up. Be a big girl. Live for somebody else, because that's what really defines human... The ability to understand the needs of another.
Matt needs you. We all need you, gods-fucking-dammit.
Put on your Big Girl Pants and Come. Back.
Weird World
I work as a teacher in an Ohio high school. I have no access to a drug locker. However, if I posted to social media that I needed a Xanax, I would be chased out the door before the pixels dried on my post.
If I were working in the medical field, however, would anybody give a fuck?

You Know That You Have Gotten Old...
You know that you have gotten old when all you old friends have become vocal conservatives.
